Gator Board Shop opened its doors in November 2005 and is located right in The Heart of Florida!
We have a indoor mini ramp, fully stocked shop, a awesome team, great skate scene, and a public skatepark next door.
Our goal as a shop is for everyone that walks threw our door leaves with that feeling of satisfaction and real skateboarding!
But lets start back before the shop opened! I just graduated high school and was working a "normal job" and trying to skate as much as possible. I was sick of my job and wanted to be more involved with skating. Around this time I heard rumors of a public skatepark opening up in Sebring. I had some money save up and approached my parents with the idea to open Sebring’s first skate shop! Notice that I underlined Idea because at the time thats all it was, until my parents were completely down for it and supported me 100%. We started looking for a place and found a location right next where the skatepark would be built. I got some product, and was ready to open but could not find a name that fit. My Mom got a call from a taxidermist that the 13ft 800lb alligator my dad and I caught was ready to be picked up. I already know everyone is like "what the **** he caught a real alligator?" yeah we did and my Dad had it fully mounted.
My Mom freaked out and said "you are not putting that in my house",so I hung the gator in the shop and call it Gator Board Shop!
We have now been open for 4 years and have grown so much. We always have something going on whether it is out filming for the next video, hosting a contest, skating a contest, having a barbecue, video premieres, demos, building new places to skate, skate lessons, and whatever else we can get into to help grow our skate scene! The Public Skate Park next to our shop is free to skate, lights until 9pm on weekdays, 10pm on weekends, and does not require helmets! Stop by and check us out and be sure to check out both our videos (Make It Happen and Stay Loose) |
